  • Speaking of this, I think I might regret selling my Brompton. Does anyone want to buy a Cross Check? 52cm, old version with no mid fork eye lets. Comes with headset and is incredibly good nick. I should add, there are no dropout adjuster screws included.

  • r u trollin

  • I dunno. I'm getting a custom frame which will be fairly similar to the Cross Check hence the hesitation of building it up.

  • Stainless still?

  • Na. 44 Bikes Huntsman.

  • Basically the 2015 Genesis CdA then (or 2015 Croix De Fer with revised geometry and carbon fork).

  • Not really, no. Road bike geo with clearances for 28c Chinook Pass tyres and also clearance for 40c WTB Nano's.

44mm head tube, tapered carbon fork, bendy stays, custom sizing (obvs).

  • Sound like this with 650b.

Here we are all loaded up and ready to go !

Saddle is a spoon, yes. I'll replace with a ronin when I can tolerate the expense...

I just bought a romin gel a couple of weeks ago that i'm not getting on with.. so it may be available very soon.

    how comfy are the spoons?

  • Spoons are good, the best bit is they're cheap though so easy to buy and try.

If your romin is 155mm then dibs!

Just arrived in Inverness BTW. Enjoying some breakfast by the river ness. The locals seem nice so far :)

  • Also I've ridden maybe 7miles so far but first impression is that the crosscheck is excellent with this front loading setup.

  • have a spoon you're welcome to borrow to try, i'm in e2.
    which romin model is it?

    Have a great trip.

    Action shots!!

  • Awaiting correct shifters to arrive now, ordered downtube, lbs got barend, grrrrrrr!
Anybody recommend a front rack ,that will take a bigtop front bag, that attaches on the cross checks fork rack mounts half way down the fork legs? Only one I can find is nitto m18, anything else I should consider?
    Cheers.

are you after a rando bag or the barbag? bar bag is smaller but fits using the klickfix mount on the handlebars

  • Got one of yer bags already Jordan, same as apollos, just after a different rack now, using one from sjs, but sits a bit high on the bike, can't get me hands on the flats of the bars.

The struts on the M18 aren't long enough to reach the eyelets unless you shunt it right up against the headtube and almost touching the tyre.

  • Damn, was maybe also thinkin of going full rack, been looking at the blackburn outpost, as it has a top rack as well as pannier.

  • You can buy longer struts from the US (possibly Japan too) or fashion some yourself out of 7mm rod...

Velo Orange stuff is worth a look, Freshtripe had a restock recently I believe. Blackburn stuff looks good if not a bit pricey (and I have no idea how much it weighs...)

  • Cheers andy. Will have a look at freshtripe.

  • Andytk yep sure a photo would be swell as I don't see how you can fit it otherwise

Didn't get round to switching the rack over and taking a photo (partly because I realised I'd bolted the mudguards to it and it's a pain to remove now)

Thankfully J.Dennis was selling a Disc Trucker/Soma front end and posted a photo of it bolted on...

    Should bolt on just fine!

    More importantly... colour?

  • Not sure yet. I think his black on black frames really do look the business. Something not too flashy as it'll be my daily ride.
