  • Now thinking of getting Piegas.

Normally ride 44 ctc so would have got the 46 Piegas, but the Bontragers I have come up at 47 outside to outside, so would I be better going for 48 Piegas? (I am working on the basis the Piegas are still coming up a bit smaller than others).

  • I don't think they make piegas in 48cm? I think I might order some 46cm's and hope they aren't anatomic

  • Well spotted - 46 it will be then!

Was going to try to get some Civia Emersons in the US next month but they no longer do them in black in 44's for some reason.

  • are they?

I can confirm the larger sizes on Wiggle are also compact. Condor still have the older anatomic shape.

    Thanks! Just ordered.

  • Mine have arrived and are compact. Pretty much as the Bonts - bit less reach.

  • 38cm deda's from wiggle are compact! Woop.

  • how the hell did you manage to fit these on a quill stem!

    Edit: god that was awfull

  • Did you put grease on the bends? That usually helps.

  • A coin to prise the jaws of the stem apart and a lot of wiggling

  • ^this always works

  • Was a right pain in the arse getting a 3ttt Pro-chrome round the Piega bend, even with the prising trick, as the clamp is a bit wider than a 'traditional' quill. Bends in the bars are gouged to buggery, but it went on eventually.

  • I had the same problem, just try doing it with a salsa

  • It's almost as if Deda don't want us to have nice things - don't they know 2014 is the year of the Tig-welded stem!?

  • I'm selling a set of 44cm Spotter bars with black fizik tape, fizik gels and Cane Creek dummy levers if anyone is interested?

    #shameless

  • How much morgan?

  • 42 cm Piegas sold out at Wiggle. Anyone know if any other shops are selling the compact ones?

  • Bontrager SSR VR-C on my bike:

40cm width, 289g - weighted using a kitchen digital scale.

  • Got a mail from Wiggle saying it's unlikely they'll get the Piegas back in 44cm.

Should I take a punt at the 46cm or try elsewhere

  • ^tbh ild say get the hwy 1s. more expensive but after getting the piegas ive now swapped for hwy1 because theyre a much better shape. the ends ending much more "behind" makes for much better position and no knocking wrists against handlebars.

  • 1+ on HWY 1, the shape is really nice and actually have a shorter reach.

  • Thanks guys, will check them out

  • I have some 44cm bont SSR VR-C (apparently they were spotter's original ones) - they are too wide for me so anyone want them for the £8 I paid for them?

    Collection N1 or Southwark...

    PM me!

    Cheers,
    Matt

  • A couple of badly listed Bonty SSR from this seller on ebay at the moment, get em whilst they're hot.
Careful of widths though, there's a couple of 40's listed as 42's. (check the photos)

  • For anyone wondering what the deda piegas looks like without the coating...

Some wet&dry paper and brasso brought them out nice.
