  • No training for me tonight :(

  • We noticed..... :P

  • Ner ner. Smart arse :)

  • You missed a fun one last night; Australian pursuit, holding hands and no resting.
We went to the crates to wake you up, but you looked so peaceful and cosy...

  • ^ Agreed, it was nice to have a mix of skill and racing - jailbreak, australian pursuit. Was feeling despondent about 6.30 with the rain but in the end it turned into a beautiful evening.

  • I got annihilated by the rain when riding home so gave it a miss. My shoes were still soggy this morning :(
Are you allowed to hold peoples hands Gaz? I thought physical contact wasn't permitted under the terms of your parole...

  • Terrific session - good to spend time practicing skills as well as tearing around.

  • Indeed it was a great session! I particularly enjoyed the Madison training, good teamwork @dArtagnan.

Although my track bike is filthy third day in a row, oh well, this is England.

  • & jailbreak was a good exercise to practise. I found a track stand to be the best solution.

  • Never done jailbreak drill - what is it?

  • Riders encircle the "convict" in the middle. Drill is to ride as close to the others to keep the convict contained. His goal is to break out of the group. Requires close riding, communication in a bunch, and regular looking everywhere skills

  • ah ha. Sounds good. I need to do more bunch riding skills.

  • Yeah that does sound pretty fun, annoyed I missed it.

  • @Athos - top skills dude; the benefit of Madison slingshot is impressive.

    Still workin' on the track-stand!

  • just in case anyone is about to leave the house:

  • Any on here's tonight?

  • Unless ice stops play I'll be down tonight wearing all the layers!

  • Weather looks poo poo On BBC. Doesn't look bad where I'm sitting atm though...

  • Anyone going tonight? I'm mostly confirmed, but it would be great to do a Saturday session and then a Monday 'back to back'. Weather looks a bit damp at 6 - hopefully it will be clear by 7.

  • Aye, I'm in. Beeb predicts a deluge down here but dry at HH, so I'll train in and ride home.

  • That was fun last night, especially nice to see @Yukirin. Bit bummed to miss the last exercise but the 3 lap lead out sprint and the team sprints were great fun. 90gi is a bit hard for me to get on top of at the moment though...

Speaking of 90gi though, some chap asked me what I was running and I told him 50x15 and he said 'well that explains it then,' and when I asked what that meant he just said he was running 48x15 but he looked pretty irritated. Anyone explain to me what he might have been on about?

  • dunno, but 90gi is a heavy gear for training

  • I think I know who you're on about, he's come across a bit grumpy before :)

Speaking to a few others we weren't the only ones to gear up to 90 this week, and a few others went up last week to 88.
I was spinning out on 48/15 last week and have yet to get an arsenal of cogs and chainrings so 90" it is. If it had have been windy I think we would have really suffered though. 87-88 would be a happy place for me.

  • Too high a gearing can cause some people to speed up/slow down in a choppy manner. This guy was probably just gutted he couldn't out sprint you.

  • (but what do I know since I used 51x14 for everything)
