I have no idea how these old headsets work. Threadless/ahead all day long. easy to find some nice silver-finish spacers?
IME You just need 1" headset spacers. I've also used a black one and a carbon one before, which if they're thin I think sometimes gives a nice contrast.
yup (well, not 100% but I don't see what I could have missed off). the old headset was a little agricultural.
If there's a huge gap I'd probably trim it, but leave enough to have a small spacer and make sure you're not limited later.

Resolved! Progress is swift with this one. Thanks, neighbour!
(I was being a slight idiot and hadn't screwed that top bit down far enough, making the extra-ness look longer than it was. Only 10mm spacer required) -

I hope you moved it inside, its pissing it down right now!

so you know no longer my hacksaw skills?

• #57
You can hacksaw some mudguard bits if you want to saw stuff?

Love this thread already, good luck on your maiden voyage with your new joy ride! :)

Great thread.
Wish I could convince my OH a tandem was a good idea. -

There are currently two tandems in our house. It suddenly feels very small. But in a comforting, tandemish way.

What is the scoblebrick measure?

Final piece of the puzzle. But our eyes have gone wonky so half past midnight on Sunday evening probably not the best time.

Chiropractic.

That's a lovely 80s Raleigh touring colour,
Liking the re-use of the bar end shifters too ;) -

I'd put the eBB in the wrong way round because I'm an idiot, so there was a bit more time-consuming hammering done tonight than envisaged, but now all the cranks are on and carrying chains. (Thanks fellow tandem-idiot Hovis!)
Mudguard stays are clipped, as are all the cable outers. Need to get some ferrules for the gear outers which'll be a shop trip tomorrow before I hook them up and worry about indexing, and still need to hacksaw down the stoker seatpost and stem shim.
Once that's out of the way I'm just waiting on a guy in the Netherlands called Mario to get my stem to me. So close! -
• #68
I know it's late but maybe just clean or photoshop your handlebar tape to be whiter :)
-
• #69
No! When the new stem arrives and the new bar and levers go on, fresh lizardskins goes on too. Until then, griiiime. Wouldn't want people thinking it was done until it's actually done :)

That's a lovely 80s Raleigh touring colour,
Liking the re-use of the bar end shifters too ;)It was all Brixton had to hand when I was rush-building before the first tour! Still tempted to get the proper DA down tube shifters but there are better directions to throw the £££s at the moment. Plus the grey pads work quite nicely with the frame.

My thumb still throbs from hitting myself with a hammer against your EBB.

^Rosie expertly capturing the upside down fork decal there.
The skewers that came with the tandem hubs are shit, just chipped a load of paint off on the dropouts in a little bit of wheel-escape that was entertaining. But not to matter, it won't be coming back from tour pristine so no bother that it's not going on tour pristine. I've got some black Tester Approved Shimano concealed cam ones that have gone on instead (well, put the back on already, will do the front in a minute) Only thing left to wait for is the stem! It rides just as flexy as ever, but feels a little bit tighter. Looks a million times better though :)

I was being grumpy as I'm about to leave work and it's raining / about to rain, then I decided to quickly check the forum, saw the above pictures and now I'm smiling and happy to have seen what I have seen!
Bravo! The upside down fork decal is a great detail too, I'm sure Mario did it for weird karma / good luck reasons, must be some kind of enamelers voodoo...

Great choice of colour.
