^ hi, i've had those lights in 2010 and have had same problems and moreover the batteries lasted for only a couple of days, I am glad got rid of them back then. now I use lights bought from £1 pound shop in wood green. I used duck tape to make them water proof and they have been good friends ever since. batteries last for long time, they are bright and if you accidentally break them replacement does not cost the earth.
