I noticed that the cycle lane westbound on Tooley Street (a narrow band of eroded green paint that only a lunatic would use, being as it directs you into an uncomfortable spot between a taxi rank and the main lane) was closed yesterday by a contractor who had put out 'Cycle lane closed' and 'Cyclist dismount' (sic) signs.
I thought the instruction to dismount was a bit rich given the fact any cyclist could quote legitimately use the rest of the road at that point. Just underlines how many people completely misunderstand how these lanes work
