Ha, to keep them joined I split two headsets between the two donohues, sounded better in theory may rectify that later.
Thanks for the suggestion on the cables but I think I like the black.
Just looked up the page to your project, do you really need the arm and leg warmers and two jackets? Wouldn't just a jacket be sufficient?

thanks for getting me thinking again. will chuck the arm warmers. but just a rain jacket will be too thin in the night, and my wind jacket is not waterproof.

Is the forecast rain?
Is 3 tubes necessary? Would 1 tube and a repair kit not cover you?
Do you have any tub sealant you could put in your tubes for a bit of peace of mind?
Do you need to be completely self sufficient tool wise or will you be riding with friends/a group? Can you split the tools / pump between you?
Don't mean to patronise you with these suggestions, just the stuff I thought about when doing the bike pack fixie tour a couple of years back.
Looking at the bags you have and the quantity of stuff you want to carry, I think you need a miracle.

Take a gilet and a racecape/jacket, keep some armwarmers too. Use the cape when wet and put them both + armwarmers if you're cold?
Having done the Vatterundan 300km through the night in the pouring rain, wearing a gilet and getting bllody cold – I have to say having at a shell of some kind is a good idea.

What about the 6 bananas and 20 sandwiches?! Surely that's most of the bulk right there...
Pump zip tied to chainstay, lights fitted to bike rather than in a bag, spare tyre zip tied under downtube/onto saddlebag/onto seatpost if you insist on taking it...
-
• #94882
The 20 sandwiches are to trade for turns on the front maybe. Very clever.
:-)
-
• #94883
Surely they could be swapped for something less bulky but equally delicious...
-
• #94884
Usually at these things there are halved bananas and things you can pick up when you fill your bottles. If you plan on avoiding the crowds that's another story.

^ it is not an organised ride, we're going with a group of 5 or 6 friends. start at 10 AM, ride all day all night until next morning 10 AM. 20 hours of riding, 4 for eating/water bottle refills.
thanks a lot for your insights/suggestions guys, weighing the options!
sandwiches btw are Dutch sandwiches,
rather than
although the latter one does look way tastier ;-)

showers, yes.
not looking forward to fettling around with glue and patches in the night. might risk it and take only 2 tubes.
I have a very compact bike tool and spoke key, the others will bring other bits indeed.
maybe I am overdoing this. I have ridden many a 200k+ event over the past years without even bringing a saddle bag.
So there's 3 unused jersey pockets I've left out of the equation :-)

When I was racing cotswold league at the turn of the century, Avon Valley Cyclery team (based in Bath) rode those.
If you phoned them there may be someone still at the shop that knows the history (IIRC they sold them in the shop)
So, guys from AVC lead me to believe these were made by Kinesis for them. After contacting Kinesis they made clear they never produced steel frames (they however still produce alu RaceliGHt and not Racelite frames). Dom from Kinesis UK says the Racelite frames were sold by Graham Weigh Cycles. After looking at couple of GW frames on forum I established all of them have similiar main triangle (very similiar if not the same to mine) and are branded with Reynold 853. Currently waitting for a response from GW to see if they had anything to do with these frames. This would certainly be a pleasent surprise, especially if it is a Donohue build. Attaching the pic again in the case someone knows something more on this topic. The project is now quite finished, just waitting for nice weather to take couple of nice shots!

Ti Flite
Love how it looks, not ridden any serious distances yet, so might have to change the position a little, but it feels good.
-
• #94890
Looking great, ti stem not too flexy I hope?
-
• #94891
Thanks, I've accepted that it won't ever be as stiff as a-head but it's next on the list of changes... I recon a milky finish Cinelli A1 reissue would be stiffer and match the seatpost nicely

I carry 3 tubes on a 400+k, sure it might be a bit overkill, but the peace of mind at night time is worth it, especially the spare tyre, as I know someone who have to drop out due to the tyre splitting.

A good chunk of europe would disagree. You get twice as much filling over bread. WAY better
-
• #94895
isn't a sandwich supposed to have a lid ?

1+ miro suggestion.
gillet + armwarmer is brilliant at night ride than a wind jacket, a lots less likely to overheat too.

Racist. It is if you're foreign.
...yellow cables or black bottom headset cup!
(not really pulling your leg, I'd seriously give it a go. that over yellow bartape or saddle anyway.)
