Plus what breso says above. If you can get to the Dolomites then you'll have more epic climbing on hand than you can shake a stick at. The Sella Ronde is a must do, plus there are many more amazing passes in the area like the Giau, the Fedaia, Tre Croce, Tre Cime di Lavaredo etc.
The weather should still be good in early September too, although it might start to get a bit chilly at night.
