Tommmmm my forks have v and disc mounts so you can get them fitted and see if it is to your liking.
For my money v brakes work fine. Work well, even. So I wouldn't bother doing anything but the minimum to get rolling, then see if the sizing works out.
Anyway you should be riding rather than fettling in this weather :)
