A medium would probably be the best one. The older small pomps had loads of toe overlap and really are tiny, I'm not sure if tthe toe overlap was addressed with the new v4?

The pomp seat tube angle means the reach to the bars is a centimetre or so less than you would expect given the quoted effective top tube measurement. I'm about 170cm tall and ride a medium quite happily.
Disclaimer : above is based on previous generation pomps, I don't know if the geo has been changed. And obviously best thing to do is speak to a bike fitter. Second bestnwould be try someone elses bike for size. The least reliable way of getting a bike fit is asking enthusiasts on the internet :)

Obviously it depends a lot on how your body is proportioned. I'm 182 cm and ride a large size of the last version, presumably v3. Whilst it's a brilliant bike and really enjoyable to ride I'm starting to find it a little short (in reach) so I'm glad I didn't get a medium.

Yep a sm pomp is only suitable for people with no toes!!!

Even a large Pompino with the stock fork and size 10s has overlap.

Do you pedal with your heels?

This.
Mine's a large pomp with stock fork, 32c tyre, mudguard and size 10/11 shoes - no overlap.

I have 170mm cranks and 35c tyres on my size L, slight overlap but who cares. Shoe 11.
As a short fella with big legs, i cant remember riding a bike that didnt have overlap, but thats something you'll get used to in no time.

Nope not tried that! I do have my cleats a fare way back.
I only get overlap when doing tight slow turns if zigzagging around cars etc. It is normally a collision of the front of my shoe and the mudguard rather than the wheel. During normal riding with my 165 mm cranks I don't have an issue. In the same situation I get overlap on my road bike with no mudguards (and I don't pedal with my heels on that either!)

Ah, mudguards.

Got myself a new raw finish frame (had to let my first pompino go in 2010 and never got over her) - I'm now trying to decide which chainset will look / perform best.
Inspiration from Photo Jim and Mez leave me undecided as to silver or black. The wheelset I've got is all silver, but the spare seatpost, stem and bars etc are black.
I'm looking at either the Miche Primato, all black or silver with black ring, On One (with external bb) in all silver, Stronglight Track 2000 in silver with black ring, or Sugino RD2 in either all silver or all black.
My gut says the Sugino in all silver...
Any thoughts, both on what would look best and what works well/any horror stories with the chainsets mentioned?

Stronglight ones were a bit too close to the chainstay on mine, but it looks from the photo above that the new raw Pompino has a bigger dimple so maybe fine. On Ones work well and the external BB is super easy to fit and replace

Hello,
About to pull the trigger on a Pompino, but unsure about the sizing. Currently working my way through these 80 odd pages to get what I can find about size and the frame in general, but want to speed the process up as the F+Fs are currently on sale.. Hoping for some suggestions from owners.
I'm 6foot, with 31 1/4 inches from trouser crotch to floor. Currently have a Brother Cycles frame in 56cm (TT 560mm). Unfortunately it doesn't get much use, and because of this I want to sell it and build a Pomp, as I recon the Pomp will be more practical and won't be sitting around gathering dust. On One's site suggest a L (closest TT size to the Brother) or XL. I'm a bit fearful that the L will be set up so as to have a massive seat post height, and half a foot of headset spacers. And on the other side, that the XL will have me resting on my nether regions when standing over the TT.. Shall be primarily riding around London on it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
K

Same on mine. I ended up inserting a 1 mm spacer to increase the space between the chainset and chainstay.

I'm slightly taller than you, with longer legs, and have an L. There's a fair bit of seat post showing, and I've a few spacers, but it looks okay and feels well balanced.
HTH.

Get an L i the TT works.
No need for XL. I've an XL with a 36" inseam and it looks normal.

Tommy, my cranks are Stronglight and the chainring is from the silver on one crankset. I will, one day, grab some Omniums and end up with everything black.
Konners, I'm just a bit shorter than you, bought a large and run it slammed. You SHOULD be fine.

Thanks Lemonade, Cranky and Jim - I had the on one external set on my last pompino, and apart from one of the arms coming off once, it was fine!
Half tempted now to lift the Omniums off the Giant Omnium I've got in the loft doing not a lot...

I'm going for some touring this summer and the pompino looks great in raw, but I'm little confused about the sizing. I'm 175cm, what size should i order? i think i want the small one but the website says 155-167cm on the small size.
