Will this explode?
-
• #4678
maybe not, but it will handle like shit
-
• #4679
Not sure if this will help but I don't intend to ride this any lower than 30km/h (track bike)

Will this explode?
What is the main purpose of the bike, If I may ask? :]
-
• #4681
Obviously it is custom so tailored to your needs, but it looks like the BB is too high, head tube too long and wheelbase too short.
-
• #4682
I only intend to ride this on the track, 90% of the time, and track bike criteriums.

Honestly, I would use the Cinelli Vigorelli geometry and tweak it to how you like.

^^ Still. It will handle shit on the track as well as off the track. If you are planning to use that for crits then you better hope they're in a straight line otherwise that crank overlap will be a bitch.

It's a cinelli parallax but with shorter seattube and longer headtube and 1º steeper headtube

Better pic of it:
The huge pedals on the first picture are as long as my foot.

76 HT angle and 45mm rake fork is reeeeally orthodox :] (the last decade track bikes has moved from the 75 degree to 74 degree HT - and hovering around the 30-35mm rake).
-
• #4688
Why not get a Parallax?
-
• #4689
Way above my budget for new frame/ frameset
-
• #4690
You could just copy the parallax geo without the potentially shit changes...
-
• #4691
What's the point of getting custom geo if not to mess around?
76 HT angle and 45mm rake fork is reeeeally orthodox :] (the last decade track bikes has moved from the 75 degree to 74 degree HT - and hovering around the 30-35mm rake).
New planet-x has 73º and 40mm rake. So, they don't know what they're doing obvs.

May I intervene since I'm the author of that.
Let me explain:
We started from a paralax, 75 degrees. Then wanted it to match forks he already has (43mm rake), so steper head angle so it doesn't go straight forward to antiporn thread.
Then, wanted a higher bb cause' in his actual track biek he has sometimes pedal strike. So instead 54mm of bb drop I made it smaller, 50mm, nearly close to histogram or low.
Shorter effective toptube, same reason, he feels that his actual bike is 2cm long.
Then, big headtube and small seat tube was to match the road bike. More rigid and all that stuff. Somesay that lolpros are cool but not comfy. The result is not a beauty, but think it will work.

Sell old forks and put money towards new forks with track rake. Then get Mielec with tried and tested geo.
If you're confident that it's going to work and it isn't a fuck up then why ask for opinions from the forum? "Will this explode?" probably not, but you might. That's my opinion.

Just wanted to read other people's opinions.
Today (yesterday?) morning I started to think on the head angle, cause is the thing that mostly worries me. But what about the other things? I mean, the nearlyroad geo. Smaller seat tube and bigger head tube. "compact" geosAlso, should I add that he wanted a bike with a smaller wheelbase.

The huge angle off set in the HT fork joint angle will doom it anti porn - but you might be having the time of your life in the mean time, riding your unique bike.

What roboto said.

100€ track fork with less than 400gr weight?
-
• #4698
PlanetX track fork
-
• #4699
There's no point in change just for the sake of it. The Mash and Cinelli guys seem to have been taking the tight corners of the Red Hook Crits fine with the standard bb drop.

also modern track bikes have short headtube to make the frame stiffer.
if you have to go upward with your body use an upward stem.
What Ral is this? Planning to build a yellow Mielec too XD
