I've been using Privacy Guard to limit what facebook and facebook messenger can access. For location, I haven't set it to "always deny" because sometimes I like to check in and let other people know I'm doing something totally badass and they should be jealous. I mean, what else is social media for? Anyway, this means that every time the two apps request access to my location, a pop up comes up and I have to allow or deny. Fuck me, they really want to know my location. Each request has 3 popups, they both request when I'm not even using the app, and you can't interact with anyone without it asking for your location. Scrolling your news feed and liking posts is OK, but commenting, clicking "read more", looking at pages, they all trigger a location request. Even as someone who works in business intelligence, for a digital marketing company it seems like an extreme amount of intelligence about each user.
