when removing the bearings from my novatec hub it was a case of 'Hit axle hard with mallet several times. Swear a little, repeat.'

This is where we reach an impasse. hammer budges no axle. 4lb sledgehammer budges no axle. On-one have suggested pour on boiling water first.... sensible?

how are you holding the wheel when hitting the axle?

Have tried both on solid surface and resting between two surfaces.

Or heat the hub shell very carefully, then hit hard.

result! trick was using a long bit of wood on the axle & 4lb sledgehammer.
edit and my currently visiting mums travel hairdryer for heating it up

I agree with the author's opinion very much,but I also have some of your more thinking.The so-called one hundred readers have one hundred Hamlet,different people are thinking together,will be more close to the most accurate answer.As a professional bearing businessman,I care about information of The types of seal bearing have made me feel tired,read more articles like this or point of view,made me benefit a lot.
Are you positive that it's an On-One hub?
I was working on a very similar looking hub the other day (only externally obvious difference being a one piece cone with no lock nut) and it had a circlip to retain the bearing.
