It turns out I just wasn't being brave enough and it fits fine with a good wallop from the right tool. Glad I was cautious though, better safe than sorry

Pleased for ya! I have an old 31.8mm seat post which works perfectly for installing 1" crown races. Didn't work for this though!

Took my first ride along some riverside single track to work today. Loads of fun. The geometry is so much nicer than the alu CX bike I used to have.
