Fair play to all coaches. I thought everyone was judged accordingly. At the end of the day it's for your own safety. If you've never ridden track before don't expect to pass from the first time, it's like getting your driving licence - the more experience you have, the more chances to pass the exam.
Talking of which, I have stage 4 booked for 15th of June - fingers crossed.

People who have started the sessions! If you get fully accredited before the LFGSS track day in July there will be a 1-hour section for accredited riders to do some advanced stuff. There needs to be 16 in the group to make it viable and I think at the moment there's only about 5, so if you've got the chance to book your sessions in June you should!
Hello Scoot. I searched, and looked but can you confirm the July date please/ cross-post details here?

Thanks Hoke.
Alas at the Test so if it is raining I'll be a tad annoyed.I hope all that go enjoy it.

Did my taster session today and it was thoroughly enjoyable! Good standard all round in the group of 7 and John was an encouraging instructor who had enough confidence in us to send us out on stage 2 skills apparently. Had plenty of opportunities to execute some flat out sprints and I'm looking forward to advancing to stage 2!

Accredited. Clean sheet too, not too shabby.
Loved the slalom exercise at the end, sprinting through the pack.

Does anyone know if there is parking at the velodrome or close to it that is not stupidly expensive? ive heard from some there is and from others there is not..
From cambridge so coming by train is also a viable option -

Lots of free parking in the velodrome carpark.
Don't believe the hype. They've got a lot of bad press from people who haven't even been there...

About what? Parking?

I did my taster session on Saturday which was brilliant fun! Looks as if the next stage will require a day off work to complete which is a bit tricky but the main issue is I followed their clothing advice (two layers, long sleeves) and I was absolutely boiling! Presumably it's for skin-saving crash reasons but temperature wise I would have been fine with a single shortsleeve top.

Exactly. And just exactly how does one get more track time without an Accreditation?
Join a club and ride on their track sessions?
Which means that club riders with absolutely ZERO track experience can ride without a problem, so long as they are doing it with their club. Ludicrous. There are 2 hour training sessions for people who've passed stage 2...

^ Hammer what sessions are these? The only SQT sessions I see offered state that these are for Accredited riders (which I read as those who have done through level 4)

I can't book yet (not passed stage 2) but maybe others can?
Stage 2 accredited and above skills session
Wednesday 20:00 - 22:00
£22 per personThis two hour structured track skills session is for riders who have successfully completed stage 2 (improver) or above of their accreditation. Coached activities will give you the opportunity to practice and improve group riding, pace judgement and use of track geometry.

I see it now thanks. Though at £22 a session I fear the accreditation process can take longer than I can remain solvent.

I have my first taster session on July 31st, are there any tips people have that are not mentioned on the website. Really looking forward to it.

Not sure what to do now with my new accreditation. Probably will use it after Track League at HHV is over.

Did level two today and now this is now showing as an option for me to book. Seems to be offered once a fortnight.

What sort of stuff do you do on a stage2 and above skills session? Is that useful for a stage 4 accreditation session or not really?
By that I mean, if at stage 4 they assess slalom and lumps and bumps, do they practice those skills at the skills session or not?
-
• #223
Stage 2 is pretty much like Track Skills at HHV. Practising riding in a group, through and off in pairs, that sort of thing.
-
• #224
Stage 3 was more advanced stuff - stacking etc.

I passed my stage 3, I am just wondering if the Skills Session which is a 2 hour session for stage 2 and 3 accredited riders involves any of the skills tested in stage4.
