I've never had a license. Don't really want one, but as I do more and more travelling around Europe thought it may be a good thing. But 1k can buy me a shit load of train tickets.
Adrienne has an expired license from Canada which, unfortunately, she never transferred over. Maybe I'll pressure her into doing it. Would probably be much cheaper.

If you have a bunch of friends with cars that would cut the price right down.
I needed to get a licence for work, glad I have it now though.
I wouldn't buy a car, I'll just wait a while more and use Streetcars/rentals if I need a vehicle. -

wish i didn't have to get one but i'm now glad that i do, the 1st year's insurance was a killer. penalised for living in an 'e' postcode.

Ello, just did a weeks intensive driving course. Passed the theory no bother but dont feel quite ready for the practical yet. Got about 23 hours of driving under my belt and could do with a few more lessons. Can anyone recommend a private instructor or driving school? East london-ish...
Cheers,
Steven

Bare in mind that London has a 34% pass rate.
I went up north with is guy, really nice:
http://lakedistrictintensivedriving.co.uk/He has a 68% first time pass rate. I'd had about 8 hours lessons/practice in girlfriends car, then did his course. Five days, four hours a day, then test on on final day. Kendal is really quiet, only has about five junctions and people are really chilled. If you cycle in London it'll be a doddle. I passed first time :-)

And if you need somewhere to stay, www.greenacres-lindale.co.uk will give you 10% if you know me. Bike friendly too.

Thanks for the response. I've just finished a 5 day intensive in Barnet. Need a bit more practice before the test tho as i previously had no driving experience whatsoever. Lots to take in in one week!
H - did you drive much in Canadia? If so then it will be really easy.
