Its not pvcU (or what ever it is today) it is aluminum. Unles they have been changed in the last year.
Look on the edge of the runners at the side, will look like one of these http://www.screwfix.com/c/ironmongery-security/window-hinges/cat841002 these will be screwed in, or rivitted.
