    btw. No one should have any religious affiliation in policing any city. We might be CoE but I prefer my law to be agnostic.

    That photo is about 5 minutes from my place. I learned what shomrim was about a month ago when one started following my Twitter account (for no reason since I very rarely use it). I also have my misgivings. Then again I have no idea of the extent of antisemitic crime in London, although I did once see a black kid screaming 'Hitler's coming!' repeatedly down the street at some hasidic types, before running away.

    Similar to your point about vigilantism, a lot of people get their knickers in a twist about Islamic jurisprudence being used to settle civil disputes, divorce cases, etc - when Jewish law has been acceptable to this end since Victorian times. This is the origin of the 'they want their law over our law' belief subscribed to by that muslamic rayguns bloke.
