^^ I've got no real brand experience or allegiance. My mum uses nikon, because that's what her SLR was so it made sense to keep the lenses. All my friends use Cannon DSLRs. Both seem to have good usability to me. The fuji attracted me because people seem to go on about the colours it produces.

I guess the desire for changeable lenses is driven by wanting to future proof. As I've got time over the next year and will be in some amazing scenery I'd like a decent camera and to make use of it. But at the moment this isn't something I'm going to be spending lots of money on continually so I don't want to find myself in 6 months or a year buying something else because of a lack of options.

Tl;Dr I want something that isn't too big, I can practice/improve on, and most important will be appropriate for vast open landscapes.
