You've cabled it 'euro'. It's actually how the frame and caliper are designed to work best but not 'normal' for the UK.
The only decent reason I've heard for UK cabling is having to brake with an arm out to indicate (turning right) you can drag the ideal brake (the rear). Turning left it's less critical you indicate.
