• I did a sort of lame sportive for quite a good cause (a UNICEF thingy through work, pre-sponsored so free!). Started and finished at Crystal Palace FC. Very well sign-posted and organised, and everyone was super cheery despite the underwhelming weather but I happen to know the lanes in that area – it was basically down to Turners Hill via Farthing Downs, nipping into the Ashdown and back. But it mostly stuck to the B-roads so it was a shame to miss the climb through Farthing Downs, Cogman's Lane, all sorts of missed opportunities for great lanes. Things got a bit Wacky Races at that sharp left on Hilltop Road, saw 4 people go down in the space of about 30 seconds. I guess if you don't know it and it's wet it's fairly treacherous and I know it's got the best of a few good riders on here. Poor bastards. Anyway it was a sort of bumpy 85 miles, felt pretty good on the SS but was not very happy to see Titsey Hill at mile 60. No pictures because rain :(
