Carbon or titanium exhaust on the green machine? Leaning towards carbon: http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j374/Furadi/DSC08091modLarge_zpsf0eb274f.jpg:original

Lighter and maybe a little fruiter? Check out pipewerx they seem to get good reviews from mates oh and contact them direct.

Jambon - I'd go Ti or Alu. They're often a little louder than the same in Carbon but last forever. Carbon end cans all fall to bits sooner or later.

Thanks guys.
Went for a Danmoto Titanium GP slip on in the end. After looking at photos of GP bikes the majority seem to have silvery silencers, so that's a good sign.
Plus the reasons you've already mentioned seem to make good sense too.Quick question: am I being too much cautious, or will just fitting a slip on have a negative on fueling and engine performance?
Planning on air filter and power commander at some point, but don't know if I have the patience to wait. -

IANAMCM (I am not a motorcycle mechanic) but would have thought it'll make the engine run lean so expect an increase in temperature and a decrease in performance. How much of an increase/decrease I have no idea. Google will have half a clue, but probably only half.

Performance meh, all we want to know is does it make the bike sound awesome, and do you get cool backfiring when you roll off the throttle?

I thought that if there is a lambda sensor in the system which is retained in the new system, fuelling would be adjusted somewhat.

Anyone else going to that bikeshow at Tobacco Wharf tomorrow? I'm heading down there about lunchtime.

Maybe, I think the amount of fuelling change that the lambda sensor can effect can vary massively. Ie some bikes will be able to adapt to the new pipe, for others the leanness will be out with the capacity of the system.
I've had 3 injection bikes, a Yamaha XT660 which had a bit of user adjustment built in and would also readily 'learn' new pipes, an HD which according to HD would blow up if you fitted slip ons and didn't pay for the very expensive remap (but in reality it seemed there was no issue unless you live/ride in hot desert states in the US) and now the KTM which reports are saying looses a lot of power with pretty much any pipe or slip on other than the KTM approved Akra kit which includes an ecu reflash.

I think what I'll do is order a high flow K&N air filter today so they can both be fitted at the same time. It seems having both fitted will help balance out the fuel mixture, until it can be optimised with a power commander and rolling road. Also hopefully it will decrease any chance of higher running temperatures.

Erm, more air will make the mixture even leaner, no?

I got that a bit wrong, you're very right. Looked on ZX-6R forums and seems the consensus is you can get away with just changing the silencer, but if you upgrade the filter too you really need a remap. Looking forward to making a few changes and getting back on the track.

Oh god, the hipsterness...
Bikes obviously never ridden, bar stocking nothing but apricot flavoured cider (cos that's really what bikers drink), sea kelp hand moisturiser in the gents...
I may have been the only person there who wasn't wearing a faux-vintage barbour jacket. -

Gerald, on the other hand, would've loved it...

It could have been awesome, and I'm pretty sure that the people organising it are a great bunch of guys.
Maybe get some more drinks behind the bar, and some bands playing or something..
There were some pretty bikes, but there was a lot there which seemed to be straight off http://hipsterbikevideos.com -

and who, ever, thought it would be a good idea to paint the engine case of a vintage BMW purple?

That guy's no hipster. The story about his fingers made me a little queasy.

I may have been the only person there who wasn't wearing a faux-vintage barbour jacket.I was going to go down there after I remove the annoying fucking alarm from my Triumph, but your description, combined with the fact that they are charging a tenner for the privilege has made me think twice.

So alarm removed and wires resoldered?
I got a freebie and wasn't impressed.

Alarm removed and bypass harness plugged back in.
And battery recharged. -

Anyone know of any livestreams for the IOM TT? We were spoiled with the BBC NI stream for he NW200 and I can't remember a stream last year for the TT.

Here's my first bike, Yamaha XT660X:

http://i.imgur.com/iYUNXIH.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/Fl0UsCm.jpgI took off around 30-40 kg from it, put around 20 mods, everything from titanium OTR 2-in one manifolds and exhaust, power commander, distancers, dog bone, suspension, stage one DNA air filter, stage two DNA open air cover, drilled 6x holes in airbox, lambda baypass etc. To be honest I don't even remember everything I did to it. I had all mods listed on some forum but can't seem to find it any more, not even in Google cache... tl;dr it was one of the best and fastest (not to mention loudest, if you pass full throttle close to other cars, it would fire alarms in the whole block chain reaction) XTs in EU.
After I crashed it (which almost took my life, broke 4 vertebrae, spleen, internal bleeding, etc, took almost two years to recover, almost left me paralysed), I got a proper supermoto, Husaberg 450:

http://i.imgur.com/lfRcAaE.jpgWhich was a riot (99 kg!!), also had a few mods, but it didn't need much, just Arapovic factory titanium full system, alnaser and battery removed, a bit shorter gear ratios... But it was too much service wise, almost a full engine rebuild every year or so (I tend to ride hard)...
Then I swapped it for an old Ducati Monster 750, air cooled, carburettor:

A nice bike, semi cafe racer build, with front-end from a supersport, double brembo in front, clip-ons, open double termis at back etc. It is nice, but too miniscule for me, really a pain to ride (I'm around 191 cm). Don't know what to do with it, would love to sell it, but in this crisis that's hard, even for a shitty price.
It was a carb'd model, a very utilitarian flat black with the flat bars off a new street triple. I love Avon roadrunners, used to use those years ago on various older bikes. Yup suspension is a weird mismatch of too soft at the front and stiff at the back, with a lack of rebound damping both ends - makes things seem a bit flighty over 80mph. It was nice to have a big squidgy seat and flat bars though, with the noise it made me feel decidedly macho... ;) A tooth less on the front and a couple more on the back sprocket might liven things up, they feel very over geared.
I'm going to try and have a go on an old one soonish. Less power but a lot less weight, fun when they are working, or so I'm told.
