  • Where would you say a good place to get a discrete tattoo is? I'm talking something say 1cm big.

    Either upper thigh.
Never going to be seen by anyone except yourself and who you choose to show.

    @h_u.
    Does it really matter?

  • The warm weather has meant i've finally been able to get my two thigh pieces out for the first time since they were done in autumn! A kudu and a wolf with little mandalas, both a mixture of hand poked and machine by Oliver Whiting.

  • @hanged_up, get something you like, or better yet love, and can live with, whatever style that is. Worrying whether something is going to be timeless should be the least of your worries.

  • @hanged_up There will always be trends and fads in tattooing but I think any tattoo that is well done will stand the test of time.
That being said, animals wearing beanies and all seeing eyes are already getting pretty old.

  • Gorgeous work on both Clockwork and 12Ounce this page. Top stuff.

  • Just booked in an afternoon with Sarah Keeley @ AKA next month.
Looking forward to it.... I've been follwing her work for a while now!

  • @clockwork_killa that's so great. I'm going to try sort out touch ups with Xam pretty soon and hopefully try figure something with Claudia de Sabe and Jondix for my next couple.

  • Bit obvious but I like it .....

  • I love how the wings look like they have orange feathers...

    Oh, wait.

  • I know , sorry .

  • Just needs a bit of Bic work! :)

  • A week to go until my first tattoo. I'm excited and scared.

You still owe us a photo of the PriMark tattoo

  • I do! I'll try again to see if she'll send me a snap.

Whomever he screws will get their "ginger wings".

  • What kind of style tattoos do people think will age really well? I see a lot of stuff that I love but I worry it'll look "so 2014" in ten years' time. I don't see many from the 90s that look great, for example. If I got a tattoo when I was 18 it probably would've been a tribal.

I can't tell if all this trad/flash stuff (and I like a lot of it) is going to look like "oh you were a hipster in the 2010s". Or will it just look like nice tattoos.

^^^^That is surely going to look sick forever

I think a lot of it looks shit right now.

Proper old school stuff is alright but often over done, the modern twist on old school stuff is - in my opinion - terrible.

I saw a guy the other day that had an owl with a human skull and a skull cracked open with a ship sailing across the brain. All very well done but what the hell is an owl doing with a human skull?!

  • a owl. #pedant
trust me, i don't get it either but apparently it is

I am strawberry blonde actually .

Don't give a shit what other people think. The important thing is whether you will like it.

Make your choice based on something meaningful to you, not on it being trendy to other fuckwits.

    Bold will hold .

    Some simple rules of thumb ;

You should be able to make out a tattoo from 10+ feet away with only the black completed .

99% of the tattoo should have a black outline .

" Your tattoo should look good when the lines are done , finished when the blacks are done and the colour is extra" . Bob Roberts

  • What kind of style tattoos do people think will age really well?

Depends what time period, but probably none.

I guess given enough time it will all come back around. I'm sure in 20yrs youngsters are going to be getting new takes on traditional 90's tribal rave tats.

My guess is that well done traditional Japanese tattoos on Japanese people will always be pretty timeless. Less so when teamed with a flesh-hole and a beard.

But as others have said you're best off just getting what you want. Failing that go for two owls on a fixie acting out a rendition of 2 girls one cup.

  • i am seriously considering getting a watchmen skeletons tattoo.
