Nothing but credit for the PTJ's resilience compared to the state of my elbow underneath it, just wanted to check whether it was worth sending back or not.
The assos S7 also held up really well, despite the considerable roadrash underneath

When I sent my legwarmers and gloves off after my crash, they just patched them.
It doesn't look great (and it's not as good a repair as it should be) but everything works fine.

Walking past the shop yesterday I thought I'd take a rare look inside.
I don't want to tar all their employees with the same brush but every time I've been in there they are almost laughably rude. While I was waiting for a spare changing room there was a chap in front of me trying on a jersey and getting some 'advice' from the helpful shop assistant. He was between sizes. The smaller one was perfect across his shoulders but a bit tight round the midriff. The larger one fitted his midriff but was too loose across the shoulder. The helpful advice from the shop assistant? 'you could lose some weight'
Comically rude.
I should clarify. I like their gear and wear it, but I buy online to avoid that place

They do have a point. He's supposed to be a cyclist after all.
-
• #16507
What advice would you prefer? Buy both and stitch the two halves together?
(also, its unlikely but they might know eachother, or else he might come in every week and try on the same thing with the same issue - in which case the response becomes comedy. Getting worked up about something like that without knowing the context is a bit much IMO)

I think they were doing him a favour. If he bought the larger one and then lost weight through the cycling, he'd end up having to buy another.
Buy the slightly smaller one, slim into it and that's it. Sorted.

He should have been advised about the Jersey Downsize Offer. Or told to do some weights. The assistant should be sacked and then chucked in a river.

The whole crying about staff being rude when they didn't really do anything is getting boring, especially with this new development of "they may have been rude to someone else but I don't really know, I'm going to moan about it anyway".
I have worked in a customer facing role for a good amount of time, long enough to know unless someone is outright shit at their job, your projections about the service will hold much more sway than what has actually happened.
You know the most common complaint about Rapha I hear? It's the concern of entitled and rude customers, way to live up to that Lacomus. -

I haz some Rapha City riding trousers, in beige, but I've decided that they're too long for my stubby legs. They've been worn twice. Anyone want them before I create a sale thread?
They're a 34 waist. You're for £30.
-
• #16512
Do they fit like Levis 34s?
-
• #16513
Lols, might be interested in those n all #buyingallofJBs things.
Though they probably won't fit me due to having correctly proportioned cyclist thighs. You in the office tomorrow?
-
• #16514
I'll have them if Tom can't fit his thighs in.
-
• #16515
Alright then. I'll take em, and if they don't fit I'll drop them off at Col du Dammit on my way home?
-
• #16516
Sounds like a plan. You can try and crest Col du Dammit at 35mph, or whatever it was that that chap hit.
-
• #16517
It's great how people leap to the defence of a brand.
Nobody is crying and nobody is getting worked up. Unless of course that poor chap who was verbally abused by the shop assistant has spiralled into despair.
-
• #16518
He's probably comfort eating right now.
-
• #16519
would be better comfort dieting
-
• #16520
'verbally abused'?
Do fuck off.

I think you might be taking this too seriously...

Said the whiner...
-
• #16523
I think he must've soiled his merino underpants.

Merely recounting an unpleasant Rapha-related event.
Don't worry, I still like their gear.

Sounds like you're right Andy
If they're that small, I'd probably just do it myself.
I crashed in mine at about 35mph and was very impressed by how well it (and the thermal bibs) held up. The base layer and my elbow underneath were shredded but the jacket just had some scuffs to the outside.
