  • example of my inability to compose properly a lot of the time.

..don't want to sound like a smart-arse, but just take a little more time before pressing the button?

    I don't windows.

Well, use this instead of [ctrl] then

I like this but it looks like it has a brown cast, maybe my monitor.

You should definately get a new monitor!

  • Definitely (regarding all the comments!)

  • I think I often rush

    ..haha, beat me to it..

..by the way I was just kidding with the new monitor,
    the image is brownish, yes.

I always had trouble scanning the faux-black and white film BW400CN -
this time I just left the previous Portra 160 setting in Silverfast because fuck it; just dialled in curves a bit for every image.

They look more "pleasing" to me with a colour cast.

  • ^^^^ freak.

  • just straighten your pictures in post?

Thank god because it's a laptop! I really need to buy a film scanner :(

I have a straightened version but it feels a bit like cheating to me.

  • Just don't tell anyone

    : ]

..and don't use transform > perspective / skew etc., unless you really know what you're doing.

And I know I'm perceived as some kind of rogue when saying that an image is not necessary straight (better: in balance), if some horizontal or vertical lines in the picture are parallel to the image boarders.
Sometimes this is obviously true, but more often than not, to me, it isn't.

I'd really recommend to step back (zoom out) when editing, so you can look at the image as a whole easily, and judge with your "gut" if it's in balance.

  • People need ot stop having a cry about working on photos in ps... its just a digital dark room. Have you ever seen a pre digi shot marked up for correction (in a real dark room)? They look wild...(the ones I have seen).

  • yeah, my scans go through lightroom for individual tweaks, generally I don't do much or even anything (they're only snapshots really...) but I will if I think it needs it

  • Just like novels need editors, photos generally need some post, whether crop or correction.

  • mmmmhh.. makina.. <3

  • bw400cn / mju-II

  • sorry about the bad scans

    beach in morocco

grounded ship that broke in half which you can just see in the first photo

  • These would be ace with proper grain rather than digital grain

  • Still ace. but could be more ace.

  • I'll have a Bronica and a Mamiya cs33 plus lenses etc up- for sale soon. Just need to get some more details from mother. Plus a shed load of pentax/canon 35mm slr's.
