I think they are prettier, but I doubt there's any measurable performance difference. They are 90mm long, and 926ALs are 80mm long, which may or may not matter depending on your preference/clearance requirements. Given that they are not causing any trouble in my parts bin, I'd have to say £25 posted.

so mini v's work with both road levers and linear pull levers? or only road?
-
• #3904
Only road levers, get full size v brakes if you have linear pull levers.
Thanks Tester, I'll think I'll pass. My Tektro front brake has been squealing hideously and I was wondering if a lack of stiffness or something like that in the brakes themselves might be partly at fault. So far I've tried cleaning the rims, toeing in the pads (even using a Tacx brake shoe tuner to do this perfectly), new brake pads, even got a bike shop to do a 'brake service' that didn't fix it. Going to replace inner and outer cables now, sand down the pads a bit and try it all again. If that doesn't work I might be interested in your Shimano brakes. Are they the level below these ones?

Trying to get my head around what a 'Road flat bar v brake' is meant to mean. -

Trying to get my head around what a 'Road flat bar v brake' is meant to mean.Yes, R353 is a level below R463.
"Road flat bar" is a system for flat bars otherwise compatible with Shimano Road groups, i.e. the cable pulls on the levers are compatible with road brake (caliper, cantilever or mini-V) and road dérailleurs.
-
• #3906
What a confusing way of putting it, given that they are compatible with conventional road brake levers and not with conventional flat bar levers.
-
• #3907
I guess it makes sense to describe the levers as 'road flat bar' but not the brakes.

Can anyone recommend a pannier rack for the Pompino? I've seen people saying its hard to get a good fit because of the short stays.

Most are ok I think?
I have a Torec Ultralight - 'tis fine.

See if anyone on here has a Tortec Expedition rack they used on a Pompetamine for sale...
PM me and I will point you in the right direction!

Having built up braker's old Canyon Ultimate AL, my pomp doesn't need to be a go-relatively-quickly-do-everything bike anymore, so i've changed the front end, CX forks, shorter stem and wide risers and chucked Marathon Plus 32s on there in place of the Maxxis 23s before. First impressions after a brief jaunt are good! One for the t-rex contingent too :)

Proper rat ^
Seeing all those BMW Gangstas made me jealous, so I bought some Resist Nomads and built my Pompino into this ridiculous fixed bruiser. As you can see the bars are comically wide :).

a 3/4 inch from my mary bar to get the width down just a tad.
-
• #3914
These are eventually going on my MTB so I'm keeping them wide unless I'll find them too wide by then. Build is insanely fun and nice to ride.

I'm 6'2" ish and normally ride a 59cm/60cm traditional geo frame what do you guys reckon size wise for a V4?
-
• #3917
anyone?^ :(
-
• #3918
Mine is the previous version and I'm 182 cm and ride the large frame. For me its spot on. Compared to my road bikes I've ridden the top tube is shorter, consequently I think a medium, whilst maybe OK height wise, would be too short.

I'm 5'10ish and my Large V3 fits me. I'd normally go 54-56cm in road frames.

hmm i was thinking XL but have no experience riding compact geo, so perhaps large is better..
im like 190cm -

I'm 6'3" and ride an XL with 110mm stem and inline seatpost. Its a pretty good fit.

im like 190cmI would be surprised if you got on well with the large, compare the effective top tube with whatever your riding now for a better idea

Interesting - I have an old Tortec rack that a previous flatmate abandoned that doesn't seem to fit on my pomp. Looks slightly different in design to the expedition - the metal strips that (presumably) screw onto the seatstay are twisted round (deliberately). Like this one:

What panniers did you use with your Expedition? I've read as well that you have to be careful with what you pick as the chainstays are short.

thanks guys super helpful!
How much? Reckon they're an improvement on Tektro 926ALs?
