^^ & ^ Thanks! Yeah, from that article on C-Cycling I gathered: no climbing, flat and probably will be a bit dull except for the circuit at the end.

Try this for a brief overview for each stage:

Pro cycling is a bit like cricket (for me). I'll keep it on, listening, drop in and out, and do some editing or writing at the same time. If it's an exciting race I'll get less work done. If it's a bit bland I'll probably focus on the last 10 km.

But I'm fair weather compared to a lot of the guys here.

Skully, follow @giroditalia and a couple of the pro teams for good updates. @teamsky @ride_argyle @lotto_bellisol @opqs are pretty on it and tweet in English.

Just watched Kittel's sprint....god damn.

• #158
Meanwhile, the rest of the sprinters in the Giro rejoice.
Kittel's out of the race with a fever.
-
• #159
too bad... but it will probably make things more exciting

Apparently he caught it off the lad who took the selfie.

Shit. What a pussy.

Again? That guy has no luck. Seems like only 19 minutes ago we were reading the same thing.

Reports coming in that following Kittel's manflu announcement, Giro ladyboner factor has dropped significantly and Dave Smith's doris is no longer pretending to be interested in the race.

I'd say with Martin DNF that the balance is restored.

On a slightly different note - if anyone wants a wee memento of the Giro starting in Norn Iron (Northern Ireland for the English lads) then get yourself one of these:

I was wearing mine proudly on Saturday night. I had the slogan shouted at me a few times dans le pub (in the pub) after the race.

Thank heavens they've left the bad weather behind.

Bad luck for Skully if this is his introduction to the Giro in Italy. It's normally a bit better than this..

Anyone who was wondering why the stage was neutralised has just had their answer.

How did Bouhanni get from off the back to off the front like that? Good ride.
-
• #172
^Um, because half the peloton fell off in the last 3k, and they weren't driving the pace in the first place. Still a good win considering FDJ's TTT to get him back on.
Andy - are you commentating for Eurosport this year?

• #173
I'm worried Skully will have lost interest in pro cycling for another year.
It's usually better than this!

I was watching the highlights and wondering what the fuss was about, the roads looked so dry. Then they wound it up and promptly went down like skittles on the final lap, and I was like 'oh, that's why'. The riders were bang on, shame that Swifty went down and with him his chances of pulling on the red jersey, which I have high hopes of him winning.
@skully. ...^ this. Read inrng.com every day - best pro cycling blog out there. Always has interest/left field pieces to go with the stage previews.
