Wait, you all got fluro jackets? I didn't get a fluro jacket. I got the glossy "bad luck" mag, but no jacket. I want a fluro jacket now.

So you can advertised the ride for free?
-
• #879
I liked the 'free' jersey you got last year for donating the entry fee regardless of entry but the nodder jacket this time looked terrible!

In. Looking forward to it. Did think the pages and pages of "congratulations" and "well done" in the magazine for just putting my name in the ballot was a bit daft, but really happy with this "achievement" nonetheless.

yay :)
(not that I'll see you anytime before the mall, if last year's anything to go by I'll be in the 7.56 group and not really catching up to anyone...) -

(not that I'll see you anytime before the mall, if last year's anything to go by I'll be in the 7.56 group and not really catching up to anyone...)yay indeed :) actually i can't recall ever riding with you. let's remedy that soon. Kat has a couple of lovely Kentish rides in mind and a new garmin to play with but she's waiting for the floods and sink holes and other acts of god to >>>>
8am sounds like a much more agreeable time to leave anyway vs 6am, in east london and presumably you have to be there a long time before departure. how do they decide? to they just ask you?

I can confirm that being there in time for the 6am start is no fun.
This year I will do my best to stay locally, and get to bed earlier for a few days beforehand.
Waking up after a good nights sleep and having a proper breakfast before setting off will, I think, make the whole thing more fun.

^^ quickest go first, slowest go last (unless you're famous) so it just depends what you put on your form. hence dammit in the first wave. I think you can change it in the profile though, I might do that nearer the time.

See the thing about free shit is; it might be shit, but it's free, although nothings really free, and in this case it's definitely shit, but I still want it. It's fear of missing out, you don't want to get isolated from the herd, that never ends well in those David Attenborough shows.

Think I'm riding with the club.
-
• #889
In, I'll be doing this with the club

edit: answered my own question. Rules say no bullhorns (looking at you OLC)

What kind of gearing are people using for this? Just counted the teeth on my cassette from last year (came with a second-hand 7-speed wheel), and was 13-21, with 53/39 up front. No wonder I struggled up Leith Hill. Going to go 12-25 I think this time. Should be fine.
-
• #892
I'll probably be doing it with an old man compact chainset, 50/34 with an 11/25 (I think).
-
• #893
Got the tandem place and new tandem should arrive in time! Bring it on!
-
• #894
I used 44x16, it was painful.
-
• #895
52/36 & 11-25 last year.
-
• #896
Do you reckon it's worth having the 11? Or better off 12-25 with the 16t? I remember it being rather flat most of the way, apart from those 3 hills.
-
• #897
Ive got a 27T......as Howard says 'spin to win'
-
• #898
I keep getting emails for this. Does that mean I'm in it? There doesn't appear to be anywhere to login and check.
-
• #899
I've just received one asking me to confirm how I'm getting to and from the rides.. and giving my start time .. guess you're in if you've got that one.
anyone else starting at 7:30?

What does the payment for it show up as in your bank statement? Maybe I can look it up that way.
As it is, my start time is 06:12
Like that's ever going to happen.
