Last minute rides

I would be geared sadly. Normally pretty ok actually. I rode it at that exact time for a BtoB a week or two ago, and rode it frequently last season with no issues compared to a sunday club run.

Sounds good - might tag along on at least a few depending on how last-minute they are as I'd need to make sure I brought the right bike to work in the morning!
