Joking aside, I've just had my first proper look at the route and it's going to be very tough indeed.
The website puts the ascent at 2800m - 9000ft.
We have friends nearby and I went out for 40 miles and 4000ft recently on my crabon bike with a compact chain set and 12-28T cassette and the thought of doing over twice that on an old bike is pretty daunting.
It looks like you can bottle it and switch to the 55 miler part way round tho and there are plenty of food stops.
