Glad I checked: it's a retag.
Never mind.

Hmmm, it's all gone horribly quiet in here...perhaps we have underestimated the power of the Dark Side...?
I'm amazed this place is still going - can't be that many people willing to cough up £499.99 for an oversized helmet.

Old , 76 the green twickenham , original star wars stormtrooper suits/helmets were designed and made here.New ;
, It's a cannon, it's within a mile or so of Hampton court but nothing to do with Henry VIII it's far more recent (1784 to be exact).
there's another exactly 5 miles away which explains it's significance.Sorry for the poor photos

Ha! Good work Ruserius.

• #14969
Hat's off for not only beating me to it, Ruserius!
But also pre-empting what the next (obvs) tag should be!
Kinda relieved I'm not having to put in such miles onna non-work day.... -
• #14970
Yeah, pretty essential for new tag to be with old.
In a way new tag is just as much JamesSW's as mine if not more. -

Don't worry about it. Heathrow is great to ride around, after hours. Hardly any traffic excellent quality roads. Very secure - you will watched, for your own safety of course.

The journey there was lovely, as always...

More info on those cannons and the 5 mile line between them:
The first objective was to determine, by triangulation, the relative positions of the Greenwich and Paris Observatories. Until the recent development of satellite positioning systems triangulation was the only feasible way of measuring distances across water. The method works by establishing a base line of known length, projecting two further lines at known angles to form a triangle, and calculating their respective lengths by trigonometry. It is imperative to have an accurately measured base line, which in this case was over 5 miles long. William Roy’s measurements were in fact accurate to within three inches over the five miles and details are given on the memorial tablet beside the cannon. A line was established and marked by a cleared pathway running for the whole length of the chosen line. minor undulations in the virtually level ground were ironed out or filled and all vegetation removed from the track. The work, undertaken by a detachment of men of the 18th Foot, stationed at Windsor was completed between 26 May and early July 1784.
I also love the word 'munificence' on the plaque.
Great tags! Excellent.
I found a great tag last night whilst out on the road bike. I love the feeling of watching this thread, hoping to know one or be able to work one out.
Got a day off tomorrow too.
Best get sleuthing.
