  • After more investigation into her benefits package (notaeuph) it looks like a company lease is the best / cheapest / least hassle option.

The BMW 220d M sport with sport auto transmission is the one to go for. 0-62 in 7.2 and 60 mpg combined. Just got to stick out the long deliver wait times at the moment...

  • colour?

  • Tough one. I really like the midnight blue:

  • ^That's a fucking rad colour.

  • do they do a horrible burnt orange this time around? you should go for a horrible burnt orange.

  • or a nice shade of bathroom green, so it matches your parking space.

    Yes and fuck off.

or a nice shade of bathroom green, so it matches your parking space.

    No and fuck off.

    :)

  • off fucks

  • Eurgh

  • definitely looks like horrible burnt orange to me.

  • just had a quick ride in my neighbours 911 turbo 996
10 years old or so but still feels pretty solid and nice inside, full leather ages well
he didn't really get it out of second but golly it pulls in 1st and 2nd
    seriously fast motor

even with 4wd you can still feel the front wheels scrabbling for grip once the turbo spools up
i had thought it was an older model and it might have some nice turbo lag but it think this model has twin turbo's so you don't really notice the lag, plus the fact 1st is over so quickly you don't really get a chance to feel for the lag kicking in it's just acceleration

  • Tough one. I really like the midnight blue:

I saw this colour this morning.

    SEXUAL.

  • Bit turquaz.

Ran out of cool colours yo.

    Time for velvet...

  • ^^ it's pretty much certain to be that colour. The other one I like is the 'mineral gray' but it's a bit motorway rep for me...

Having said that, it will be replacing a white 1 series.

  • mineral grey would be my choice, but I'm boring.

  • That's the problem... it's the boring choice and, as it's a lease car, I don't have to worry about depreciation so the blue is better.

  • The worst thing about all of this is that I found out last week that my next door neighbour has already ordered a 220i M Sport in black. His parking space is three away from mine.

    Bastard.

  • ^ 1st world problem etc.

They really are amazing. Its so hard to find the limits of the grip. God knows I have tried. And virtually no turbo lag at all. Response seems instant.

I am waiting to get mine back from SVP in Worcestershire. Clutch failed, and by some million to one chance, it cracked the alloy gearbox housing. So needs a replacement manual gearbox and a clutch. Hopefully be done in the next few weeks. I have really missed that car. :-(

Other than that its been a great car, and very solidly built.

Thinking of possibly a Nissan GTR later in the year. Any opinions ?

  • Thinking of possibly a Nissan GTR later in the year. Any opinions ?

I've driven one (briefly) and whilst it's electric to drive, it's very dull inside and feels a lot less premium than a Porsche or quick BMW / Audi / Mercedes etc.

Can sniff at the price of them though...

  • ^^
nice choice to have current gtr or r34's ?
new nismo gtr is supposedly the fastest production car around the nurburgring that is obviously the tuned version but i reckon the gtr across country would be as least as quick as a 4wd 911 turbo

  • I went in my mate's New GTR, it broke my strava. Astonishing car, get one. Also, the easiest drive round town, smooth, quiet and supple, a real surprise.

I am worried about it possibly being dull. The 911 is never dull.

But the price ! So cheap !

Yes, I saw that in EVO magazine. Thats what finally sold it to me.

  • Gtr won't be a patch on 911 turbo. I can keep up with a gtr in my dad's 996 c2.

Plus interior is nowhere near as nice.

What do you want from a car?
