As an aside, there is way worse from 'merica .
Take this post for example http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-rifle-scopes/236500-us-optics-sr-8c-spr-perfection.html#post2965268
I cannot imagine what what a terrifying world those types of dudes live in. Imagine just sitting in your hotel room sweating, furiously adding and removing parts from your high powered rifle, gripping the stock as hard as you can gritting teeth and waiting for them to kick in your door and demand all of your monies.
Meanwhile, outside of your motel 6, a couple of dudes drink some beers and talk about how rad the tits were in the last episode of true detective or whatever.

All I can think is that they're either; in the forces, a Mall-Ninja, or kids.
Well at least they're free and have easy access to high powered weapons. Just a shame they still have to pay for their meds.

I rest peacefully on public transport like a normal person.
The cigarette relaxes me.

I need to get my soldier knife's main blade reground, it's got a few knicks in it from the D-ring/key fob... Any ideas?
Moral of story: Never lend your knife to a friend that doesn't know how to use it...
I have one of these they are great little knives

yup
the perfect pocket knife, for the last 20 years have had one in my pockets pretty much everyday -
• #411
It needs a clip, but I think one can be added fairly easily.

Perfect as it is, just don't lend it to anyone... Especially Canadians who don't know how to use them...

Hi looks interesting, sorry I have a few questions! Which market? How much did he charge? Its hard to see how its made what is the handle?
Thanks
So yes, this is from the Maybach-Ufer market in Kreuzberg - and no, the guy is not in Mauerpark on sundays like somebody guessed.
He sometimes does mail-orders he said, but doesn't like it a lot.
His email is pan.handwerk@gmail.com if you want to reach him.He will most likely come to London later in the year he said.
The little knife was just 7 euros and the handle is bent over, yes, like in the big one I posted -

My grandfather is an oldschool German hunter and butcher. The knife on the right, he has had since his apprenticeship. He told me how it started its life like the knife on the left.
Csb etc.

I've just re-wrapped the handle on my old survival knife. I used the last bit of twine camping last year. It's been wrapped and re-wrapped on occasion since I got it aged 11. The handle is hollow and is the perfect size for storing matches. The saw blade on the back is very effective but as it is quite a short cutting edge you can generally break any branch that the saw could cut. I have only used the saw for notching things allowing me to fit two sticks together before tying over them. The origin of the saw is not for woodwork, but for cutting through polycarb aeroplane windshields and possibly even thin alu 'plane panels. These were initially called 'Egress' (to leave) knives. It has the classic Bowie style clip point (front end cut-away) but this is not sharpened as it's unnecessary and weakens the tip. The spine is fairly wide to allow you to bash the back of it with a mallet / heavy stick to make controlled chopping easier. I've only done this a couple of times but it's the best way to get through skinny rabbit bones if you've nothing more appropriate.
It's from a company called Scalemead, they were UK based and sold a lot of stuff like this (and air rifles and such). The other side of the blade says 'Vanadium Stainless Japan'.
I imagine kids these days don't go camping much, let alone carry a 5" blade, but this was a vital piece of kit for me, I could pretend to be Rambo all day, and cut sausages up for dinner. This is obviously not an EDC knife, but it has it's place in a camping scenario and has been used relatively regularly for over 25 years.

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning up an old knife? I've been given this who h belonged to my grandad and has a "made in Sheffield" hallmark
Also, any tips for loosening up the folding action, which at the moment is very stiff would great!

Put a drop of oil on the pivot and the back spring, scrub the blade with a pan scourer then sharpen it and keep it in your pocket and use it as often as you can.
Keep it's lovely patina, and with use and bit of oil the pivot and spring will free up and it will be a lovely little pocket knife. -
