I think you're worrying too much. DD was the longest ride I'd done by a long way, first time I did it, and I literally do not remember anything other than one tiny bump of a hill. The rest of the ride was fast, flat and fun with the beach at the end. If a guy can do it on a penny farthing, you'll be fine!
