Yeah I cut it too short but don't have enough derailleur cable housing left to cut off a proper piece. Am replacing it with brake cable housing for the time being, which probably won't be a long time as because the housing was too short I also cut the cable itself too short and now it won't reach the derailleur. And the hangover is killing me fml.
