How I see it is that the weight disadvantage will hopefully help me get faster on the track!

So I decided to ditch the maxis refuse after a 2 months (don't get me wrong they're great tyres for commuting/training and are pretty good at puncture resistance and smooth skidding), the problem for me wasn't this but instead when the lifespan of rear gets to the limit/mesh layer the tyre itself began to fall apart in chunks and basically I got told off for riding with pieces of my tyres missing and had to miss the half of the track session on Saturday #ripmaxisrefuse
Inspired by attack&force, I decided to go back to gatorhardhell, (as they didn't have any durano plus at lmnh which was the next tyre I wanted to test) the attack and force has 22mm at the front and 24mm at the back, so for the gatorhardshell I went for the 23 at the front to keep it nippy and 28 for the rear for a more comfortable ride and I hopefully in theory more surface to skid/stop.

Bye bye heavy hardshells and hello to pro 4's...and yes the decal did contribute to why I purchase them!

But what about the crack?
-
• #258
Time to find a new model/manufacturer...

This one cracked too?

oooh cheap. and not as ugly as robs. I'd still rather have a canyon though.

Nerged.

Yep another crack in pretty much the same area as the MK2 version =/
worrying times, don't want to go over to carbon just yet but maybe this is the final straw, I'll see what Canyon have to say and their response but doesn't look good tbh considering its an aluminium frame.

Just ask for your money to look elsewhere, having had 2 crack in the same place there's no way you should trust a 3rd.

• #267
Just get a carbon road bike and be over with it

• #268
oh wait

I'm sure there are a tonne of them that have been abused and haven't failed, could just be coincidence.
edit: (not that you've been abusing it)

Don't get a PX. So boring. Get a look 496 or something. Ideal commuter.
-
• #274
Not too keen on the PX either too.
Lets just see how this plans out, as I stated before I'm not really happy so far with the initial fail, but they're usually good in replacing frameset/bikes within the warranty period but I'll be definitely be keeping an open mind (& eye) out if something pops up that could be a replacement (if it fail again)

Turn it into a summer bike and get a Steamroller.
I need to get those big tyres back on it!
