Just also came across the MKS Urban platforms, there is much debate between these and the GR-9's regarding the the flip on the GR's breaking and the better bearings on the Urbans etc. Anyone had hands on experience ?

Does anyone know if BLB lockdown straps will work with DMR V8s?

sure why not?

I'd seen people posting about having to file down V8s to use similar straps elsewhere, but I guess they should be fine. Pedals are on their way, so I'll find out soon anyway.

mks gr-9's. lovely!

most flat pedals are for use with slotted cleats, mks gr9 has an actual flat surface, depending on your shoe sole the cage of other pedals can cause discomfort.

I've got GR-9s on my commuter, which are great, but the clips rub my toes (over-grown tendons, knarly toes, it's a hereditary thing). Has anyone ever used some of those hipster-esque straps, like people use on DMR type pedals, on the GR9?
edit: or have any other suggestions for clipless retention, without going clipless?

The horizontal strap on platform pedals shouldn't rub the toe, although I would suggest also trying a much larger cage if your clips are giving you trouble.

It's the clips rubbing, not the straps. The thing is I think larger clips are just longer in most cases, rather than particularly taller, might be worth a try but I'd rather do away with them completely, especially as I'm considering touring with flats/straps.
