  • Meh, it only cost him £450 secondhand.

  • This is where locks go to die:

  • I begin to think the underground bike park at my place of work is the same. Most of the bikes never move either.

  • When I wander around Cambridge I see hundreds of locks on racks, railings etc.
I don't get it, did the thief cut through the frames ?
If the owners left them, then how do they lock their bikes wherever they've gone ?

  • Some are the result of thefts but most are people not wanting to carry locks everywhere. Of course, this means that when they stop somewhere other than the end of their commute, they have no locks (or some crappy plastic string), so a good deal of those locks are foreshadowing thefts, if you see what I mean.

  • Those were all covered in a lot of mud, none were cut that I could see, just abandoned locks either forgotten, key lost, or perhaps they just haven't ridden the bike all winter. Every bike rail with have one or two, but that was a lot in one place

  • Ok I explained that, it was next to a mobile mechanics van, either it was the mechanic's or it was his customers and they both could see it

  • Last week I was chatting to a woman who had just bought a bike from an auction, and somehow got on to the topic of locks.

Her : I bought a proper professional bike lock
Me : Oh really, was it a kryptonite?
Her : No I bought it from a bike shop
Me : (Slightly confused at her reply) Oh, how much was it?
    Her : I think 3 pounds

I tried to explain that it was a piece of crap and she should get a proper D lock, and her reply was "I know that"

    Me : *walks off *

  • I was impressed how well they managed to lock their bike up without actually locking it up.

    Brockwell Park

  • You would still need to cut the cable to release it where the rear triangle is looped. So it appears it is locked up - just fucking badly.

  • This was actually an art exhibt called 'Society's Crisis Cycle' by Byron Smith.

    #art

  • ^^^^^almoat as good as poop on the saddle tbh

Me and others in Edinburgh yesterday, four bikes badly locked together, butnot to tthe railing, then a fifth on a shoe lace lock in the other side of tgwrrailing.
Just on other side of the street drinking beers in plain sight though.

  • Outside my work all day, called the bloke out and his reply was "it only cost me £450 secondhand".

    Well that's ok then.

    "A fool and his money..."

  • Cannondale guy still hasnt had his bike stolen.

    Luckiest man ever.

Update: Cannondale was stolen on Friday, during work hours, in broad daylight, no one noticed.

  • How much did you get for it?

  • Unfortunately all I get is my favourite locking up spot back. He was always here earlier than me and nabbed it,

  • Did he have a white rear light?

  • I dont know.

    I doubt it.

  • Found on reddit.

  • Not sure if creative locking to confuse thieves or (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  • I once saw a BMX with a crappy little cable lock around the seat pole, I laughed the whole way home.
