42cm is the widest the M106 come in AFAIK (bear in mind they're a predominantly Japanese-market road bar). They are 42 centre to centre though, not outside to outside.
The Hwy Ones are fine for general riding, they're certainly not useless. I notice the flex but I'm a fairly big bloke.
