A good question. It failed around the BB affecting the down and seat-tube. Mr Burls reckons it was a bad weld that put stress where it shouldn't have been and of course it was a very uncommon occurrence. It was properly rebuilt, with new tubes replacing those affected and a longer head-tube to accommodate a stronger setup.
