  • I agree with getting black, will work better.

already changed out to a gp4000 front and Re-fuse rear...looks waaaay better with black sidewalls

also thinking about losing the dura ace 16t and opting for a 17t cog for a 48/17 combo...and it will snug the back wheel a bit closer to the seat tube without having to resort to a half link

  • Will you be running a brake?

    errr...

    no

I know the general consensus about brklss, and I do run a brake on my fixed commuter, but the plan for this is minimal hill action

  • Your knees will thank you as will the skid patch gods

Yes. Most definitely do this. 48/16 brakeless will ruin your knees. Plus 1 skid patch can >>>

Ran with 48/16 during the summer which caused some temporary pain/ache in my right knee. Would not recommend.

/GREAT frame though, silver seatpost matches. Dont go black, too boring.

  • Those angles look way 'lax for a keirin NJS frame though...

I'd get a black fivestar, source suntour superbe pro hubs, SSP chainring and SSP seatpost and then get Araya RC540 rims.

  • Those angles look way 'lax for a keirin NJS frame though...

look normal? NJS frames are generally not crazy tight and those 90ยบ ST ones aren't that common

  • mind asking where you picked this up, very few nice big frames around

  • mind asking where you picked this up, very few nice big frames around

found it on ebay, I think it was a wallhanger rather than regular rider, as the paint is in extremely good condition...and it does have the nice japanese shit stamp of approval on the bb...maybe the angles look odd due to the pic

  • That frame is exactly what I've been drooling on for the last couple years, such a beaut. I'll be following!

  • Beautiful frame

  • I'd run a brake as one dumb idiot can cause an incident that can ruin your frame. The Indra's thread has quite a few wrecked frames due to cars suddenly braking resulting in an impact that folded the top tube.

All my near misses were 100% the fault of others...not cos I'm perfect. I keep half a mile between me and cars in front and slow down at every side road even when I've right of way...which saved me a few incidents.

I'd be too worried about idiots to then really enjoy cycling a frame I'd hate seeing damaged...

Have you been out on it yet? :)

  • Have you been out on it yet? :)

not yet, straps have been held up in the post, I can get stuff from Japan in 5 days yet it takes almost 2 weeks from the same damn country I live in???...arriving tomorrow or Thurs, and have been working 10 hour days since the build...got a 17t EAI to put on tonight (after work), so...Friday

    hopefully

  • No brakes?

  • after more than a week of waiting for the straps to arrive, and long hours at work, I decided to take the V12s off my commuter and get out on the road.
Went for a 30km ride, with a backpack carrying some tools (just in case) and a camera.

first impressions...super smooth, super quiet and such a good fit...48/17 takes a bit to get going but definitely cruises nice...ok so I only did 30kms, but in 68 mins, including general red lights and such, hit a top speed of 54kms.
brand new Re-fuse on the back got a deep cut...must have been some shrapnel on the road, will keep an eye on it.
I know the MTB flats are an abomination on this frame, but I had to get a ride in today.

    happy :)

  • Awesome man! Bike looks like loads of fun with the risers and straps. Good on ya! Those are some big balls you have there.

  • Agree, straps looks fucking awesome on this build!

  • That looks great!!

  • MKS Fit Alpha Spirits finally arrived...fitted them and the Superbe Pro pedals, and went out for a bit of a spin

  • Looking good! :)

  • Needs Kashimax Five Gold

  • orgasms

Clips and straps much better. Flite looks fine to me, though I get it ain't NJS. I would've laced the front to match the rear. I laced mine radially and I now regret it. So fucking reem anyway though, love it.

  • Needs Kashimax Five Gold

"So - you want a Kashimax Five Gold? Well, here are some friendly instructions on how to prepare yourself for adventures on your new saddle!!!

    1. Strap a 2x4, upright, to your friend's foot. Make sure it is in place.
    2. Every step forward you take, make sure you get kicked hard, straight in the crotch.
    3. Repeat for as long as you can take it."*

    yeah...nah
