If that's what you're using it for, I wouldn't worry about weight. Wear out the stock parts and replace with cheap, tough components that will last.
You'll get stronger, save money and can be more confident about the bike on longer rides. The Talbot will ride amazing after 6 months pushing 20kg of bike around every day.
