  • Amazing, please share in the Paul Donohue appreciation thread.

  • ^^^So good. Where did you find those little matching frames?

I remember that interior from the Borghini pictures as well, house porn.

  • Those Donohues are fantastic. This project needs it's own thread.

badmanlongtime - you'll get varied responses on the brklss/brakes debate. I'd recommend a brake on your first build. Learn not to use the brake and then remove it when you don't need it.

  • Current project, Two matching reynolds 631 45cm 650c Donohues for a friends twin 11 year old boys. The idea is, I source all the parts, then teach them how to build/maintain them. Give a man a fish .. and all that...
Bed wetters beware, these are going to be singlespeed, so will be drilled.. Boo hoo...

    Beside a 56cm for comparison.

That really is some Flooring porn right there.

  • This is my new track Graham Weigh built up in a way that fits (though I haven't been able to test it much outside due to dodgy weather and dodgy knee)

Looks (and feels) a little bit big but I think it will be manageable until I can find a similar one in my size.

  • size?

  • It's 61cm ctc, my matching road bike is 59cm ctc and fits like a glove. I've still got about an inch of clearance standover but the top tube is 61cm on this as well which is long.

  • tt is 61 ctc?!
    the st/ ht angle?

  • Yeah TT is 61cm as well, it's a big lad. Not sure about the angles

  • Blue bikes appreciation :) Please share the progress on donohue twins!

Tom, really nice build as well. I am currently in process of getting all the parts together for my blue Racelite frame. Is there any general rules/ no goes of matching silver/ black components? My wheelset, chainset and headset are silver, where as the finishing kit is a bit more modern looking black (I'd rather go for silver stem though)...

  • yes the brake drilling was one of the reasons i went for this fork im in two minds wether to have a brake or go brakeless on my **first build which is carbon ** as central London isn't a very easy place to navigate on a bicycle especially with no brakes.

lol, why are you in two minds? You've already given yourself two solid reasons to have a front brake. Tbh I would not recommend going brakeless on a first build, and you cycle in central london (dangerous place to cycle, even more when brakeless for that matter) AND you've got a carbon frame?

Don't even think about it, buy a front brake. The hipster points aren't worth the broken bones

But this is just my opinion, I don't know your riding style, etc.

Edit: Though the HHSB points are. #BrakeAreDeath ;)

  • I'd recommend a brake on your first and all subsequent builds. Learn not to use the brake if you're training to be a trick cyclist and then leave it on anyway when you don't need it.

  • I picked up a Brooklyn frameset a few weeks back and have been messing with a few setups. It feels like I finally got it set up real nice today:

Fitted the Tree sprocket this morning, so I'm now running just under 70GI which feels ideal. Dem 35c RiBMos ride soo nice on the super wide rims.

I just added this build to Pedal Room if anyone's interested.

  • Looks great Dom! Looks comfortable as well.

Is your ESB going to spotter then?

  • Thanks Tom! It's real comfortable, and rides surprisingly fast.

Spotter wants the ESB frameset, yep.

  • It obviously climbs alright as well if you got it up to Alexandra Palace for the photos!

  • Although this is my first build, it doesn't mean i haven't ridden fixed or brakeless before, I ride a fgfs bike at the moment and i am very comfortable with no brakes but im in two minds mainly for the aesthetic reason and safety on such a fast bike...

  • such fast bike...

    So carbon.
    Wow.

  • ^ that Brooklyn is rad

  • ^^ 7/10 would rep again.

  • You worry about your safety a lot for such a badmanlongtime... :)

Stick a brake on it and enjoy it. Just remember to remove it if you ever feel like taking it round a track like it was intended.

  • changed the nos pedals for used beaters, and wrapped drive chain stay, so no chain rash worries

I was actually thinking of putting on a rear brake and stabilisers too... and I wont be taking it round the track like it was intended because i'm a rebel like that! :)

  • So carbon.
    Wow.

    soo soo Carbon. AMAZING!

  • You bought the wrong frame then, cos it won't take a rear brake...
