In case anyone's interested, I bought a Qi wireless charger and receiver for my S3. Total cost was about £15. It works ok and technically the receiver fits under my S3 back cover (it's about the thickness of a credit card and it sticks onto the battery). The back cover snaps shut but you can feel a bit of a bump in the middle so it doesn't quite sit flat. It's weird but I'll probably get used to it.
The actual wireless charging is slower than wired, but works ok for leaving on overnight. I'm not sure if it's worth it but saves wear on the USB socket I s'pose. Thinking of getting a car phone holder thing with Qi charging built in, less cables to worry about.
The charger itself is cheap feeling and very light, tempted to break it open and see what it's like inside. Probably a deadly fire hazard.

It's the tech that's interesting... Being able to edit the focal point after you've taken the pic... Innit...

There was a kickstarter or something for this last year. I'm really sceptical that you could take all the components of a smartphone, add the interfaces to make them swappable and not result in some sort of useless monstrosity. The suggestion that it could be the last phone you ever need is laughable, how long before they change the interface and you can't upgrade the camera without buying a new 'motherboard'?
In summary: I think it's a really shit idea.

Maybe but they're giving it a go. If it's modular then the "motherboard" or whatever it is you're talking about could be a module too. The argument against it I heard last time was the radio freq interference or something between modules being such that it couldn't be made to work properly. I hope they're wrong.
