The fork really helped, never seen an uglier fork than the Tricross'.

Definitely! I'll be looking to replace it. Something carbon and under 100 quid.

Might need to save up a bit more than that dude.
Kinesis PureCX is a decent one to go for.

I feared that. Hopefully I will be able to find something second hand. I'll have a look at the kinesis thanks Ed.

So you'll likely be switching for something worse?
Nobody is looking at the forks on your bicycle. Lose the vanity, ride your bike!

Ok maybe not 'nobody'.
Ed cares.

The geometry look really interesting, thought bottom bracket look a little low for a CX bike? especially with 175mm cranks.

Read a lot about it on velocepuke and other forums. Only in serious off camber sections it will be a problem. But I will be much faster out of corners and that does it for me. Also I never bunny hop barriers. I am a runner. My pomp was so slow. I intend this frame for racing Cx only. I will build myself a 29+ for forrest rides.

It's not going on a wall but I still want to ride something that looks good

Acceleration out of wide grippy corners needs a high bottom bracket too. Thats fairly common in the early season when the grass roots are still tough.

it's not that low though...
Boone is 70-65 mm depending on size... http://www.trekbikes.com/dk/da/bikes/road/cyclocross/boone/boone_frameset/#
edit: I have 290 mm from the ground to center bb. That should be more than enough for any cxcourse I will ever encounter

I really like the stock fork , have upgraded bits to 38x20 standard cranks surly ring , cane creek scr5 levers as the oem ones are fugly and uncomfortable and a smattering of Thomson bits and a ti spesh toupe saddle . I have a Kinesis crosslight pro6 as well and the tricross is just as quick on flat singletrack as that . I love it dearly .

Finally had a reply, the guy owns a brick and mortar bike store in coventry so I'm happier about transferring money knowing I have somewhere to go back to if all goes tits up. Now I'm just waiting for a paypal address and it'll be mine.
I'm hoping its a fun ride and not too slow, I've come from a leader which for me was really light and quick around London so I'm hoping this isn't much heavier/slower else I'll be getting the itch for a track bike too and the girlfriend won't be happy about that! -

The difference in BB drop in the sizing is also mainly due to the cranks length.
70mm likely to have 170mm cranks, whether the biggest one that have 65mm drop have 175mm.

I saw the Raleigh Furley and was disappointed it's not in the UK. Merica Raleigh is a lot better

What's a decent freewheel with a good toughness to price ratio (under 40 quid ideally)?
I've gone through two dicta type ones literally through light trail use, want something that I can really depend on.
Thanks!
You can only go one speed?
