  • Ebay... Bugger. Gonna give them a try at home with thinner socks, might work out. Got them at a good price though so if it's no go I'll offer them here

  • Not to everyone's taste, but after my 3rd drop-in at Viberg in a week of visiting family in Victoria I fell victim to the Service Boot in CXL.

    I really like these man.

  • you can make then wider but not longer.

cant you send them back and get the next size up?

My GF just had her new boot stretched up about a half size in length, so it might be worth looking into. Was only £7 too

  • Interesting. Gonna give them another try first, have a feeling I might be able to stretch them out myself with some wearing at home first.

  • I bought some stretching aid at my cobblers once. it worked really well. I'd try that before getting them to stretch them. because you can use it with your feet to make a better fit and only stretch where it's needed. mechanic stratching at cobblers will often give strange wrinkles/stretch marks(!)
the aid, I bought was a weird foam that you let soak through the leather and the walk in the shoes until dry.

  • I like the look of the Archie Brogues.

    Any decent heavy brogue alternatives?

    loakes
    church
    alfred sargent
    trickers..

Or go for the non fashiony Grensons that haven't had the marketing make over. They're made to a much higher standard and from a much better leather.

    Interesting. Got a link?

  • I'm sorry I don't. the brand was wooly or something similar. I'm in denmark so the brands might be different, but I believe your cobbler should have something similar.

  • I really like these man.

    Me too, more and more.
I haven't taken them outside yet due to the 3 esses of a Winnipeg winter: snow, sand and salt.

  • Great job at Red Wing, these old bad boys feel like new again...

  • Nice jeans...

  • Floor needs a clean...

  • You're not wrong, the place is a pigsty at the moment...

Got given some new laces and a nice polish as well...

  • That look has endured for thirty odd years, a true classic

    ... ?

  • Question:
My son is after some cigar roll type shoes...kinda like deck shoes if that makes sense. He'd like something in full leather upper, soles and inners. When we google deck shoes or goto the Trafford centre they're all a bit cheap looking.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Cheers.

  • What are cigar roll type shoes? Moccasins?

  • What are cigar roll type shoes? Moccasins?

Yeah. He's found some available at a shop in Halifax and are Loakes so I know the quality should be good and not too bad at £100.

  • Just found some Grensons at a charity shop for £4. Fuckin' A.

  • my girlfriend wants a good pair of handmade lace ups for her new job. who does a good range of women's shoes? Crockett and Jones is woefully bad, Church's only do one pair of lace ups that aren't hideous and they're not quite right, Loake basically don't do womens shoes, and I'm not sure if Grenson are shit.

Who is there that's good for women?

  • Wondering the same for the gf. She's one size away from using mens shoes, which is a shame as it would've solved it neatly

  • i guess my gf could go for mens shoe but they tend to look less elegant, elegance is desired

  • Barkers do a few women's styles. Trickers do a few women's shoes as well but you'd need to visit the factory shop.

  • Some of the Grensons are okay. Paul Smith have get some nice shoes in their men only collection.

  • Mrs b&d bought a pair of oxblood lace-ups from this lot last time she was in Paris. Decent customer service, which included the nourishing cream for the leather as well as the polish in the correct colour. She loves them...
