• Just had a young boy (about 11) on a BMX crash into me. I was riding along London Fields West Side, where you don't normally expect any trouble. He came shooting out of a dead end to the left. I came to a full stop but he couldn't stop, hit me, and I went down on my right side. Very slight elbow abrasions and my right hand's a bit iffy (I supported myself with it), but that seems to be the extent of the damage. He immediately said 'I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry' and we agreed that it was his fault and that he would not shoot around blind corners any more.

Needless to say, his only thought was to scarper as quickly as he could. I couldn't stay serious because in my mind I was automatically playing through all the steps that I'd take in case of a worse collision, e.g. with a car, and it was slightly absurd to be thinking things like 'don't reply to his "Are you OK?"' question.

It's the second time another rider has crashed into me. The other time was on a ride in the countryside when he squeezed me as we were going around a corner. Both times very little damage was done, fortunately.

    That was RPM. Both times.

    HTFU, Oliver!
