You would say that, I am getting another Gazelle CM next week with eyelets for a nice winter build. Wouldn't mind trying a modern group.

Lovely - I've not seen one of these before - nice cut-away seat tube. Panto levers to die for.
Have you used the AX brakes before? Mixed views on effectiveness - some describe as 'speed modulators' rather than 'brakes'. Others say they work fine if set up properly, wider than for dual pivot. I have some Dura Ace AX as an option on a (very slow) build, so would be interested in your view. Will probably fit in any case as they look so cool.

^i've got the DA AX deltas on my low pro and had 600AX on another bike and found them to be very effective (although they take time to setup)...

Oh and FYI S&B - Dutch Cheese may have the seatpost bolt you are after... I ended up making one up from a cut down bolt and an Allen nut I found on the floor in my kitchen (?)

I will be replacing this Monostay for a slightly bigger one, in classic paint scheme
Frameset for sale within the next week looking for £350. Including Panto levers

Gazelle AA-Super Monostay 55cm mkII
Just picked the Gazelle Monostay from Sigma Sport in Hampton Wick. I swapped over the Duar-Ace AX headset & bottom bracket my other Gazelle Monostay which I have sold to Carlo Alberto (Enjoy :-)
Cant wait to source down a few more Dura-Ace AX parts and get this built for L'Eroica, watch out for my 600AX groupset for sale over the next couple of days

Decided to stick with the 600 AX group, all I need is a 27.2mm post to make it a full groupset. I was really keen to get a Dura-Ace AX group together but I just don't have the funds or patience, those DA bars will be incredibly hard to hunt down for a sub £100 price tag.

I was joking ;), although it wouldn't be ugly.

lol, you got me ;)
The grey/black would nicely frame the frameset though, agreed.

This frame really wont suit a modern groupset, period AX all the way i'm afraid.
I am thinking I will go modern group on Merckx OS Strada build

Not a lot of tyre - seat tube clearance at the back!
-

New tyres fitted, I tweaked the adjusters in the rear dropouts to get slightly improved clearance.
A nice new shiny 600AX aero seat post

Can´t wait to see the finished machine. The colour complements the AX group very well. Love the sliver of light passing between the tyre and the indented seat tube.

Lovely! I have some DA AX bars in my parts bin if interested.
edit: don't have the plugs and they could use some cleaning too

nice tyres too...

Damn, get those bars!

Mheldring - How much for the DA bars?

ok, so the clock is ticking to L'eroica britannia and I haven't progressed much with the last few parts due to moving flats and a new Merckx to the fleet :-)
I am after a set 600AX brake levers with hoods, VERY important those hoods!
AX toe clips, should be easy to find but don't want to pay crazy money for some funked up blue straps. The last and final debate is what saddle to have, I love the Ti Flite but they are too new, was thinking something along the lines of a Turbo, any recommendations............
and last but no means least, I need a AX headset tool. I have been toying with the idea of drawing up my own tool in CAD at work but haven't got around to it. Any market for this tool? worth doing and making a small batch?

After seeing RIH monostay for sale over a year ago in the classified, I knew I wanted one. After much searching this frameset came up on retrobike and the deal was made. The serial number indicates 1984 build but the paint job is 1988 later style. I'm not a huge fan of the newer industrial design paint and decals but it's growing on me. The seller described that Gazelle would build the frame leave it for a few years in the factory then when required bring it back for sale. I'm not too sure what the true reason is, and its certainly not a respray. It came with 2 sets of forks, the matching painted and a NOS chrome set. I am a big fan of chrome forks but it just didn't look right. I had a Koga Miyata GentsRacer - Aero with full Shimano 600 AX groupset ready as a donor. I guess by default Campagnolo Super-Record would be more suitable but I am really a big fan of the design & esthetics of this group.
The Shimano 600AX shifters didn't fit the profile of the aero boss. I had seen another Gazelle Monostay with Dura-Ace AX shifters so after searching high and low I got a nice NOS Dura-Ace AX 7321. Sadly these didn't fit aswell, as these were for aero tubing only. I realized with abit of help from velobase I needed the 7311 version. In the meantime I managed to get a nice set of Gazelle Campagnolo panto shifters and with a little bit of help from
MattyC who pointed me in the direction of Sargent & Co in Finsbury Park for a Gipiemme aero mount. Without the aero mount the frame is pretty much useless.
Next purchase was the Shimano aero bottle holder, just need the bottle. Dura-Ace AX braze on front mech as the 600AX was band on style. Dura-Ace period headset and a modern Shimano UN55 115mm BB all fitted by T'Rennerhuis in Leeuwarden. I have been toying with the idea of building it up with full Dura-Ace AX groupset to really do the frame justice. For now the 600AX groupset is in great condition and looks the part.
