  • Definitely slower going, unless you intend to ride through a lots of fire road and carry more than you can possibly sustain.

  • No guards on this either, on the off chance it's wet.

  • I read something recently where a guy rode the lost coast (or some such name ) highway in northern california on a fat bike. I forget the name of the article and I'm on my phone so can't link to it, but will if I recall later. It looked amazing fun, and the article had some great photos. But the key thing was that riding a fat bike didn't slow him down half as much as expected .

  • It was probably something linked on Prollyisnotprobably.

  • Cupcakes, this guy tour on a fat bikes in South America a while ago;

  • I think jb's route is quite road orientated, I can imagine a light off road tour would be amazing fun on this.... Just the bits in between that might drag....

  • whack some aero bars on it, sorted

  • Only had a chance to watch the highway 1 video but my god that's got me even more excited than I already am! The genesis it is. I'll leave the ECR for off-road adventures for now.

  • A large would've been way too big. It fits well.

Does anyone know of any large volume 29er slicks? Apparently schwalbe big apples come in 2.5". I had a look at the 26" version and they look perfect. I'd like to sometimes put some slicks on here and keep the BB height close to it's intended height.

I got 2 salsa anything cages for it too and they're great! I'm also going to put a Brooks C17 on here.

Schwalbe Super Moto comes in 28/29" at 2.35" and maybe bigger.

  • Putting slicks on this is stupid, you've got the Genesis for that. The point of this is to be able off road!

  • Do what ever makes you ride it more.
    Ignore everyone else.

  • ^ i fucking love your green bike dron; such a perfect commuter

  • cant believe the shifter is scratched somehow

    This.

  • i cannot help but think that the loop bar looks so fugly and if your never going to hold the loop section, then why not just get some of those Surly bars or even the new Jones bend H bars? JMHO!?

  • Put elbow pads on, and rider like hell.

  • Unbelievable weight

    ftfy ;)

I held the loop and it was nice to stretch out a bit. Also, the loop is perfect for strapping stuff to/putting lights on.

    ftfy ;)

I was pleasantly surprised at it's weight. Far lighter than I ever imagined.

  • really? Have you been working out?

  • Wait till you add luggages.

  • Well tbh, the last mountain bike I rode was a £400 GT, with £50 forks that weighed a tonne, this is far lighter despite the huge tyres and rims.

Sorry Mheldring, I missed your message above. The bars are thoroughly great. I don't have any other MTB bars to compare them too, but I really do like them a lot.
