• Both.

  • Keep them and buy something else.

  • I like them but I like the Specialized BG Gel a lot more. Not as grippy, of course, but the fit, support and construction are better. My Grippps are coming apart at one of the index fingers too.

  • All mitts seem to be rubbish now. The only ones that have not fallen apart are some Pearl Izumi Pro pittard something or others. I've washed them so many times that they've gone a bit crusty but the stitching is perfect and that's after 4 years. Unfortunately you can't seem to get them anymore.

But yeah, take em back. But don't hold your breath for Castelli or Specialized being any better.

  • Mitts are for tits. Will no one think of their fingers?

  • Exact same problem with my Grippps. Ugh.

  • My Gripps wore through the palm after less than 8 months. I think due to heavy use combined with the fit being slightly too large. Anyway, emailed them and they posted out a new pair. Good customer service and worth a try.

  • Im bang on between s/m on gripps. Better to size up or down?

  • Gore Gel mits are boss. Had mine for three years and two crashes. Still putting Mavic and Gripps to absolute shame. My Gripps stretched across the palm. Can't say I wasn't warned by the bloke in Tokyo Fixed.

  • Gore Gel mits are boss.

I had to return a pair of these. The second pair lasted longer but they're not as durable as other gloves I've had. Softer material = shorter lifespan.

  • Ride slower and for less miles = problem solved.

  • Are you talking Gore or Gripps Hippy?

  • Gore. I've never heard of Gripps.

  • Ride slower and for less miles = problem solved.

Or ride turbo - no need for any cycling kit other than some knicks. Sorted.

  • You're getting through some tasteful orange towels though.

    *stalker

  • I like those towels.

  • I vote for Specialised BG, had two pairs and both were great, only replaced the first pair because I lost one of them. My only issue is the fact the black palms turned my white bar tape grey.

Oh and now they stink to high heaven, even after washing.

  • I bought a pair of Spesh gloves while waiting for the Gore replacements. They're more durable but don't have the little removal loops I like (that get caught in TT shifters). They're falling apart now too but that's a few years of heavy use.

  • I bought some De Marchi mitts. Kinda nice. But a bit tight around the fingers and impossible to remove.

Thinking of treating myself to some fancey rapha pro mitts.

  • I had the old pro-mitts, well still have them. Very sturdy gloves, good padding etc, however almost immediately I wished I had bought them in black, as they have turned from a sparkling white to various mottled shades of yellow and gray. They are also wank to wash. It has put me off getting more Rapha mitts.

I had some Campagnolo ones and the palm went through within a week.

I bought some Chiba ones on the cheap and the thumb split on the first ride.

Currently rocking some FDJ mitts, to protect my freshly wrapped bars.

  • Third seam has gone - they're going back! Thanks for the tips in the mean time.

  • Get some Giro LX.

  • Anyone tried Prendas?

Other kit I've had from them has been top drawer.

  • Giro LTZ
